• Question: As a chicken has no tongue, how does it swallow food and water?

      Well, chickens actually do have little tongues in their beak! They don’t have teeth though.

      Chickens eat by picking up the seed in their beak, tilting their head back and swallowing it whole! It then goes into the gizzard (their first stomach) where is it crunched up by the big muscles there and digested by fluids that contain enzymes.
