• Question: Why do some dogs get their tails cut when they are born?

      Great question!

      It is now illegal to cut a dogs tail short unless the dog is going to be used to do a job – like hunting. It’s OK to do it if they are being used for hunting because they might hurt their tail or get it caught when hunting, so it’s safer to cut it short.

      In the past people used to cut dogs tails short because they thought it looked nicer and more fashionable. But thankfully they are not allowed to do this anymore!
