Some of my degree subjects were pretty hard. Quantum mechanics was difficult at first – hard to think about, and you need to be pretty good at maths!

I can’t remember the most difficult but at university my tests were all timed essays. So I had to write a full essay in an hour without any books to help me, I didn’t like those tests at all!

What’s the most difficult test you have ever had?

Hi Michaelo, I can’t remember my most difficult test but I can remember when I got most stressed, it was at the end of my PhD, the exam is called a viva and you get grilled on your work for a couple of hours by Professors who are experts in your field…you have to defend your work and convince them what you’ve done over the last three years is the best thing since sliced bread. I was really stressed going into the viva exam but it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as I thought it would be….I find a lot of things can be like that.
I remember when i used to walk into tests at school or Uni I used to tell myself in my head “there’s no more I can do so let’s do this” I found it calmed me down and put me in a mood to tackle the test head on – not sure it made me any better at tests! but it did calm me down.

The test I had to do to become a qualified vet was the hardest I have ever done…. It lasted four days!! And there was a LOT to remember!
