Coolest thing overall? A trip to Hawaii to give a lecture was a pretty cool trip.

Coolest scientific thing? I’ve been able to watch with my own eyes how molecules come together to do stuff – I’m my case how they come together and work as a small team to achieve their goal (in this case making holes in cells).

Infected cells with a modified virus and made them glow in the dark 🙂

The coolest thing I have done is use an MRI machine. These are huge machines that use magnets to take detailed pictures of the insides of an animal (or human). They are a bit like X-rays, but can see a lot more than a normal X-ray machine can. It is very expensive to take a picture with one of them, so I was lucky to get to use one!

Travelling and meeting new people is really cool, I once travelled across five American states in five days to some of the best US research Centres, every day was really exciting and very fast paced. In my science – one the coolest things was watching one of my bioreactors come to life before my eyes by seeing the cells inside it glow using a method no-one had ever used before.
